He enlisted at Camp Clark in Guadalupe County as a Private in Company A, 4th Texas Infantry on 11 July 1861.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was severely wounded in the hand in the Wilderness, VA on 6 May 1864 and was absent in hospitals until retired to the Invalid Corps at Washington, LA on 29 September 1864.
