The rest of the War
He was wounded by gunshot to the shoulder in action at Gettysburg, PA on 3 July 1863 and promoted to Lieutenant Colonel on 5 July. He was hospitalized in Danville, VA and returned to duty on 2 May 1864. He was surrendered at Appomattox Court House on 9 April 1865.
