A 22 year old farmer in Fairfax County, he mustered as 8th Corporal, Danville Light Artillery on 22 April 1861. He was wounded in action at 2nd Manassas in August 1862. He was promoted to 3rd Corporal on 30 April 1862.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
