Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted as First Sergeant, Company G, 22nd Georgia Infantry on 30 August 1861. He was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant on 15 January 1862, promoted to First Lieutenant 28 June, and to Captain on 1 July 1862.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was treated at a Federal field hospital near the battlefield and paroled there on 26 September. He died of wounds in Baltimore, MD on about 26 October 1862.
