He enlisted in Richmond, VA as a Private in Company D, 4th Texas Infantry on 15 October 1861.

On the Campaign

He was in action with his Company at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and was mortally wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He died of wounds in a US field hospital on the J. Grove farm near Sharpsburg, date not given.
