Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 27 year old mechanic at Zebulon, Pike County, GA. He enlisted in Zebulon as a Private in Company H, 53rd Georgia Infantry on 5 May 1862.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 and captured there.

The rest of the War

He was listed as paroled on 27 September but had died of wounds on 25 September 1862, probably in a US Army field hospital near Sharpsburg. His widow Mary filed a claim for his final pay in May 1863.
