A 26 year old farmer in St. Landry Parish, he enlisted as Corporal, Company E, 10th Louisiana Infantry on 22 July 1861 at Camp Moore, LA. He was wounded in action while color bearer at Second Manassas in August 1862.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 while bearing the colors.
