A 26 year old clerk in Shreveport, LA, he enlisted as Private, Company A, First Louisiana Infantry on 28 April 1861 in Shreveport. He was promoted to 2nd Sergeant on 20 December 1861.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
