He enrolled in Waco as 3rd Lieutenant of Company E, 4th Texas Infantry on 13 July 1861, was 2nd Lieutenant by October, and was promoted to First Lieutenant on 15 July 1862.

On the Campaign

He commanded the Company in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862, where he was wounded.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to Captain on 22 October 1862 but was killed at Chickamauga, GA on 20 September 1863.
