He enlisted in Waco as a Private in Company E, 4th Texas Infantry on 13 July 1861.

On the Campaign

He was in action with his Company at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September but not at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was appointed Corporal on 1 March 1863 and promoted to Sergeant by January 1864. He was killed at the Wilderness, VA on 6 May 1864.
