A married 20 year old farmer in High Bluff, AL, he mustered as Private, Company E, 15th Alabama Infantry on 3 March 1862 in Westville, AL. He was absent, sick from May to August 1862 and rejoined his Company by 23 August seeing action at Hazel River, 2nd Manassas, and Chantilly, VA.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 and died the same day.
