Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted in Waco as the 2nd Sergeant of Company E, 4th Texas Infantry on 13 July 1861. He was appointed First Sergeant on 4 July 1862.

On the Campaign

He was not with his Company at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September, but was in action with them at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was elected 2nd Lieutenant on 28 September (or 15 October) 1862 (to date from 15 July) and was killed at Gettysburg, PA on 2 July 1863.
