From Norwich, CT, he enlisted on 25 October 1861 and mustered as Private, Company H, 11th Connecticut Infantry on 14 November 1861. He was promoted Corporal on 14 June 1862, reduced to Private in July, and back to Corporal about 1 September.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
