From Windsor, CT, he enlisted on 1 November 1861 and mustered as Private, Company B, 11th Connecticut Infantry on 14 November 1861. He was promoted to Corporal on 28 May 1862.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in the forearm in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He died of wounds on 14 (or 5 or 15) October 1862 at home in Windsor at age 36.
