Before Antietam

A 33 year old painter in Lynn, MA, he enlisted as Private in Company D, 8th Massachusetts Infantry on 30 April 1861 for 3 months and mustered out in Boston on 1 August. He reenlisted and mustered as Corporal, Company H, 20th Massachusetts Infantry on 24 August 1861. He was promoted to Sergeant in July or August 1862.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
