He enlisted as Private, Company G, First Texas Infantry in September 1861. He was promoted to First Corporal, date not given.
On the Campaign
He was captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was paroled and returned to duty with his Company on 2 December 162. He was appointed Regimental Ordnance Sergeant on 25 March 1863 and was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant, Company G on 12 August 1863. He was mortally wounded in action at Chickamauga, GA on 19 September and died of wounds on 25 September 1863 .
