Before Sharpsburg

A 23 year old blacksmith, he enlisted as a Private in Company F, 4th Texas Infantry on 11 July 1861 at Camp Clark in Guadalupe County. He was slightly wounded in the ear at Cold Harbor, VA on 27 June 1862 and was promoted to 4th/3rd Corporal on 1 August 1862.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and was initially reported missing in action on 17 September 1862, but afterward as killed there.
