He enlisted as Private in Company C, 6th Georgia Infantry on 27 May 1861. He was appointed 2nd Corporal in 1862 and wounded at Seven Pines, VA on 31 May 1862.

He was wounded again, in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was listed as absent without leave after 1 July 1863 with no further military record.

After the War

By 1879 he was living in Florida and "engaged in agricultural pursuits."
