Pre-War Profession: Lawyer and writer. Served in Confederate Congress before commissioning as Colonel of Cobb's (GA) Legion in August 1861. Was at Seven Days and Second Manassas. (Brother of Howell Cobb.)
On the Campaign
He was not present with the Legion on the Maryland Campaign, but was home in Georgia on leave.
The rest of the War
In November 1862 he was appointed to command of Cobb's Brigade/McLaws' Division and promoted on Gen Lee's recommendation to Brigadier General, but was killed in December at Fredericksburg.
