Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 24 year old overseer on Daniel Odom's farm near Columbus in Muscogee County, GA. He enlisted as a Private in Company G, 6th Georgia Infantry on 27 May 1861 at Atlanta, GA.

On the Campaign

He was listed as missing in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862, but had been wounded by a a gunshot wound to his right arm and captured there.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to the US Army General Hospital at Chester, PA on 2 October and sent on, probably to Fort Delaware, on 24 October. He was a prisoner at Fort Delaware until 15 December 1862 when he was sent to Fortress Monroe, VA for exchange. He was admitted to a CS hospital in Petersburg, VA on 18 December 1862 and returned to duty on 27 January 1863, but was in a Richmond, VA hospital for the same wound again in May and June 1863. He was appointed regimental sutler by March 1864, but was transferred to the Invalid Corps on 2 July 1864 as "totally disq"(disqualified?).

After the War

By 1880 he was a "guard" in Helena, Shelby County, AL. In 1900 he was a farm worker boarding in the Elijah S Larrimore household in Irondale in Jefferson County, AL.
