He enlisted as First Corporal, Company H, 6th Georgia Infantry on 27 May 1861 and was promoted to First Sergeant on 16 January 1862.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was appointed Hospital Steward in May 1863 and served to at least 10 October 1864.

After the War

He was a medical doctor and lived in Oxford, GA to about 1871, then in Dublin, Laurens County. He was in Dodge County by 1888.

Service information from Henderson.1 His presence at Sharpsburg from a casualty list for the Regiment printed in the Southern Recorder (Milledgeville, GA) on 21 October 1862, which lists him as killed there. His Class at Emory from the Catalogue of Emory College, Oxford, Georgia. 1913/1914. Some details from family genealogists. His gravesite is on Findagrave.

He married Sarah N. "Sallie" Parks (c. 1845-c. 1871) in 1865 and they had 3 children. He married Mary A. (?) in about 1872.
