From Oglethorpe County, he enlisted as Private, Company K, 6th Georgia Infantry on 22 August 1861 at Yorktown, VA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was present for duty through at least 30 April 1864, the last muster roll on record, and was with the regiment at the surrender in Greensboro, NC in April 1865.
