Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted as a Private in Company F, 4th Texas Infantry on 11 July 1861 at Camp Clark in Guadalupe County.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company in action on South Mountain on 14 September and was wounded in the side in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862, left behind, and captured.

The rest of the War

He was paroled at Sharpsburg on 27 September, briefly in US Army General Hospital #5 in Frederick, MD from 10-11 October, and sent to Fort McHenry in Baltimore. He was transferred to Fortress Monroe, VA on 13 October for exchange. He was admitted to Chimborazo Hospital #4 in Richmond, VA, then granted a furlough home to Texas on 15 November 1862, but did not return. He was listed as absent without leave by January 1864 and dropped from the Company roll about June 1864.
