From Baldwin County, he mustered as Private, Company H, 4th Georgia Infantry on 14 May 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the leg and slightly in the arm in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was captured at Spotsylvania Court House, VA on 10 May 1864 and held at Elmira Prison, NY. He died there of variola (smallpox) on 28 February 1865.
