Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted as a Private in Company F, 4th Texas Infantry on 1 August 1861 at Harrisburg, TX.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in hospitals in Richmond, VA and on furlough, but returned to his Company on 1 April 1863. He was wounded by a gunshot to his thigh and was captured at Gettysburg, PA in July 1863. He was sent to DeCamp General Hospital in New York Harbor and paroled there on 24 August, then was in Richmond, VA from 25 September to 27 November when he was furloughed. In January 1864 he was listed as absent without leave in Texas to at least August 1864. He was in a hospital in Richmond briefly on 2 January 1865, but was returned to duty on 3 January with no later military record.
