He is listed in the 1860 Grimes County census in Anderson P.O.; age 22; born GA; son of William and Urana Kelley. He enlisted as Private in Company G on 19 July 1861 at Harrisburg, Texas. He was sick in Richmond in the Spring and Summer of 1862.
In the Antietam Campaign:
Possibly wounded in action at Sharpsburg.
The remainder of the War:
He was detailed to Brigade Provost Guard in Apr 1864. Wounded near Richmond on 2 Apr 1865, and paroled at Montgomery, Alabama on 21 May 1865.
