He enlisted in Grimes County as a Private in Company G, 4th Texas Infantry on 19 July 1861.

On the Campaign

He was in action with his Company at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was appointed 3rd Corporal on 1 October 1862 and was captured at Suffolk, VA in 1863. He was at Fortress Monroe, VA for exchange on 13 May 1863. He was promoted to 5th Sergeant by January 1864 but was killed in the Wilderness, VA on 6 May 1864.
