Before Sharpsburg

A 24 year old farmer, he enlisted as a Private in Company G of the 4th Texas Infantry on 19 July 1861 at Anderson in Grimes County, TX and he was slightly wounded in the forehead at Gaines' Mill, VA on 27 June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was in action with his Company at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September, but not at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was on a medical furlough from 14 July to mid September 1863, cause not given. He was granted a brief "furlough of indulgence" to Bedford County, VA in January 1865 and was surrendered and paroled at Appomattox Court House, VA on 9 April 1865.
