He enlisted in Grimes County as a Private in Company G, 4th Texas Infantry on 19 July 1861.

On the Campaign

He was reported absent on South Mountain/Boonsboro (14 September), but wounded in the leg in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was in Richmond, VA hospitals until discharged for disability due to wounds on 20 October 1862. He applied to raise a Company of Cadets for Confederate service in September 1863, but does not appear to have been successful. He was paroled at Millican, TX on 10 July 1865.
