He was wounded in the hip and captured in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was exchanged on 2 October 1862 and was listed as on duty to at least February 1863 with no further military record. He was probably disabled by his Maryland wound and sent home in early 1863.
