A 33 year old planter in Polk County in June 1861, he was commissioned First Lieutenant of the Polk Rifles, 4th Georgia State Brigade, soon to be Company D, Phillips' Legion Infantry Battalion.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain, MD on 14 September 1862.

His service from Graham.1 His memorial is on Findagrave. He's not found on lists of men known to have been reinterred in Washington Confederate Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD, but may be one of the 'unknowns' buried there.
