He enlisted in Montgomery County, TX as a Musician in Company H, 4th Texas Infantry on 7 May 1861 and he served as a litter bearer in the battle at Gaines Mill, VA on 27 June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was in action with his Company at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was with his Company to the end of the war, surrendered and paroled at Appomattox Court House, VA on 9 April 1865.
