On the Campaign

He was captured in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain, MD on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was exchanged on 2 October 1862 and returned to duty. He was captured again, in Tennessee on 18 December 1864. He was held in the Federal prison at Rock Island, IL but "escaped by placing a board against and scaling fence" on 26 September 1864. There is no further military record.
