Before Sharpsburg

Known by Ambrose, he enlisted at Corsicana in Navarro County as a Private in Company I, 4th Texas Infantry on 17 July 1861.

On the Campaign

He was in action with his Company at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and was captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was briefly held at Fort Delaware, then sent to Aikens Landing, VA on 2 October and declared exchanged there on 10 November 1862. He was captured again, on 20 September 1863 near Chickamauga, GA, sent to Louivillle, KY on 1 October then on to Camp Douglas, Illinois the next day. He was released on 14 June 1865.

After the War

In 1870 he was back in Navarro County, TX, occupation: artist. By 1880 he was a physician there. In 1899 he was practicing in Dreseden, TX.
