Before Antietam

Age 20, he enlisted as Sergeant in Company A, 30th Ohio Infantry on 2 August 1861.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was treated at the Locust Spring/Big Spring field hospital on the Geeting farm near Sharpsburg, but died there of wounds on 21 September 1862. He was reinterred from his original burial on the battlefield to the National Cemetery during or before 1867.
