Before Sharpsburg

From Homer, LA, he enlisted in the Minden Blues in about April 1861. They arrived in New Orleans on 14 June and enlisted as Company G, 8th Louisiana Infantry on 23 June 1861 at Camp Moore, LA.

On the Campaign

He was captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was paroled at Fort McHenry in Baltimore on 12 November and exchanged at City Point, VA on 21 November 1862. He was captured again, near Fredericksburg, VA on 3 May 1863 and briefly a prisoner at Fort Delaware. He was exchanged at City Point on 23 May 1863. He was captured for the third time at Rappahannock Station, VA on 7 November and a prisoner at Point Lookout, MD to 10 March 1864, then exchanged at City Point on 15 March. He was first listed as missing, then as mortally wounded on 5 May 1864, probably in the Wilderness, VA, with no further record.
