He enlisted in Navarro County, TX as a Private in Company I, 4th Texas Infantry on 31 March 1862.

On the Campaign

He was in action with his Company at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was detailed to the regimental Commissary or as a teamster from 27 November 1862 to at least August 1864, he last muster roll in his file. He was surrendered and paroled at Appomattox Court House, VA on 9 April 1865.
