Before Sharpsburg

A 17 year old farmer on his father's place at Athens in Henderson County, he enlisted there as a Private in Company K, 4th Texas Infantry on 15 July 1861.

On the Campaign

He was in action with his Company at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September, but not at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was wounded at Chickamauga, GA on 20 September 1862 and was surrendered and paroled at Appomattox Court House, VA on 9 April 1865.

After the War

In 1870 he was working his own farm near Athens, TX with a new baby he named Robert Lee LaRue (1870-1940). He died relatively you at age 33 just before Christmas 1876.
