A 27 year old farmer in Conwayboro, he enlisted there on 7 August 1861 as Private, Company F, First South Carolina Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He died of his wounds in Lynchburg, VA on 17 December 1862.

He married Margaret (?, b. 1836) in about 1850 and they had 5 children.

There was also a Corporal Isaac Benjamin Hardee (b. 1823) in Company F; he died of disease on 4 July 1862 in CS General Hospital #1 in Lynchburg.
