Before Sharpsburg

A 22 year old farmer in the Spartanburg District, he enlisted as a Private in Company F, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 9 August 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was wounded again, by a gunshot to his left hand at Chancellorsville, VA on 4 May 1863. He was in a hospital in Williamsburg, VA and furloughed, with no further military record, on 26 June 1863.

After the War

By 1880 he was a farmer in Reidsville, Spartanburg County. His occupation was listed as fisherman on his 1916 death certificate.
