Before Sharpsburg
A 21 year old farmer at Oakland, Edgefield District, he enlisted as Private, Company E, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 15 April 1861. He was promoted to 2nd Sergeant at the reorganization of 13 May 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on Maryland Heights near Harpers Ferry on 13 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was killed at Gettysburg, PA on 2 July 1863.
