Before Sharpsburg

A 20 year old farmer at Perry's Crossroads, Edgefield District, he enlisted as Private, Company E, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 15 April 1861. He reenlisted in Company M on 11 February 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded - with "contusion of arm by shell" - in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in hospitals until the end of October 1862. He was killed at Gettysburg, PA on 2 July 1863.
