Before Sharpsburg

A 28 year old farmer and carpenter in the Laurens District, he enlisted as Private, Company A, 13th South Carolina Infantry on 6 August 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the left arm and thigh in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in a hospital in Richmond, VA by 14 October and then furloughed home. He returned to duty by July 1863 bit was mortally wounded by a gunshot to his right shoulder on the Overland Campaign in May 1864. He was admitted to Jackson Hospital in Richmond on 15 May and his arm was amputated, but he died there on 14 June.
