Before Antietam

A 22 year old joiner in Brunswick, he mustered as Private in Company K, 1st Maine Cavalry on 19 October 1861. He was detailed as orderly to General Hartsuff in June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was assigned as orderly to General Rodman in September 1862 and was wounded in that capacity in action at Antietam on 17 September.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to Corporal on 7 December 1862 but was killed in action at Middleburg, VA on 19 June 1863.
