He enlisted as Private, Company F, 3rd Alabama Infantry on 27 June 1861 in Montgomery.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action near Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to First Sergeant of the Brigade Sharpshooters in 1863 and was wounded and captured at Frederick, MD on 8 July 1864. He was held at Point Lookout, MD until released in 1865.

After the War

He was a stockman, farmer, and worked in a bank in Pollard, AL.
