His service from the State of Alabama.1 His death at Sharpsburg is from a casualty list for Rodes' Brigade in the Montgomery Weekly Advertiser of 8 October 1862. A sketch of the regiment in the SHSP 2 says he was killed at Gettysburg (offset, like the others on the list, by one battle). Personal details from family genealogists.

His mother Matilda filed a claim on his behalf in December 1862.
