He was wounded in the leg in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

His leg was amputated and he was discharged for disability.

His service from the State of Alabama.1 He's also on a casualty list in the Montgomery Weekly Advertiser of 8 October 1862 as missing at Sharpsburg. Personal details from family genealogists, one of whom has his birth year as 1843; I hope that's accurate, rather than 1848. His gravesite is on Findagrave.
