An unmarried 22 year old farmer, he enlisted as Private, Company K, 10th Alabama Infantry on 4 June 1861 in Montevallo. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1862. He was wounded near Richmond, VA on 30 June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
