Before Sharpsburg

From Sumter County, he enlisted as Corporal, Company B, 7th Georgia Infantry on 31 May 1861. He was promoted to 5th Sergeant on 2 September, and to 3rd Sergeant in March 1862. He was commissioned Junior 2nd Lieutenant on 12 May 1862 and 2nd Lieutenant in August.

On the Campaign

He was slightly wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was wounded at Spotsylvania Court House, VA in May 1864 and near Petersburg, VA on 10 December 1864. He was discharged in February 1865.

After the War

He moved to Young County, Texas in 1866 and was a farmer and cattle rancher there.
