He was wounded and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was paroled on 27 September and returned to duty, date not given. He was wounded at Gettysburg, PA in July 1863 and again at Farmville, VA on 6 April 1865. He was surrendered with his Company at Appomattox Court Houses, VA on 9 April 1865.
